So, I have been a bit quiet lately. But, I’m coming back, realising that I need to be confident of my voice, confident that as a headteacher, reflection can be the best therapy that is so often needed! Reflection only makes you better, it helps you to always improve, to be your very best, it helps you to be the most effective leader you can be.
As I’m approaching the end of my first year of headship I can reflect about our achievements, our struggles and how we need to move forwards. The last post I wrote was when we were having our SIAMS inspection. Well, we achieved an overall ‘outstanding!’ We were all ecstatic! It just helps to confirm that we really are doing the right things. The inspector also worked for Ofsted and looked at our development plan, numerous policies and our in-school tracking, including how we were spending our Free School Meals money. I don’t know if that is the case in all SIAMS? But, it has just helped us to breathe a bit easier knowing we are on the right track.
Achieving outstanding has helped this year end on a really positive note. A way for us to celebrate the changes and effort that has taken place by us all. This came alongside our fantastic end of year SATS levels, which included amazing achievements for individual children who have proved to themselves all they are truly capable of.
This is what makes headship so worthwhile.
This is what truly encapsulates our ethos of ‘being the best we can be.’
This is what makes all the challenges so worthwhile…
Watching children achieve, watching them learn and helping them be inspired to achieve their true potential……
